Ceremony by the sea

Maybe it was 2 lovers, who journeyed together in order to witness the romance of the setting Sun and then sacredly wed themselves, whispering vows of true love in the presence of the Sea, wishing for a fruitful shared life…

.

Maybe it was 2 women, who under the silver light of the full Moon, walked barefoot on the beach stones while their wombs were bleeding in order to kneel down to Mother Earth, praying for becoming mothers themselves…

.

Maybe it was 2 friends, who wandered for decades in the dark and reached this beach at Sunrise, in order to make a ceremony, asking for their own way through life to be illuminated…

.

What I know for sure, is that I came across these altars at 8:30am, under the direct sunlight, right next to the Sea.

.

They reminded me of the offerings to Goddess Aphrodite, a Goddess born from the foam of the Sea.

.

Back in time, in this very land, people would approach the temple, the shore or any other sacred place place of Aphrodite with gifts. Each gift would be carefully selected, symbolizing beauty, fertility, wealth, purity… Each gift would be offered with gratitude to the non-human world so that they feed on. Each gift would be accompanied by a prayer, a song, a dance.

.

I think we all have something to offer and something to pray for. What would you put on your altar at the beach if you would make one? What time of the day would you choose to go? Write below and let the world be inspired.

PS: Immense gratitude to the unknown ones, whose altars inspired me and us to reconnect with the act of humble ceremony, offering and praying
